WHAT WE OFFER: A fairly large selection of very well made furniture pieces that are ugly and worn out that have lots of life left in them. You choose the piece/pieces you'd like along with the color and we breathe new life into them. We currently have roughly 80 lacquer colors to choose from (see color portfolio tab above)
WHY LACQUER RATHER THAN PAINT: We have found thru 23 years experience that lacquer is a better product than paint. It dries to a harder finish in less time which means your custom refinished pieces will be ready to go home with you sooner and will look better longer. Since lacquer can only be sprayed the pieces we refinish look like they came from the factory: a flawless, smooth finish without any nasty brush or roller marks. The lacquer we use comes from a commercial coatings facility and is a commercial grade product. We use the same quality sprayer that you'd find in an automotive body shop.
WHY SHELLY'S DRESSERS RATHER THAN SOMEONE ELSE? We've got 23 years experience not a vague "many" like other people doing refinishing. Simply put, because of the years of experience we have it gives us the ability to do a better job. There are 4 of us that do the work in a 1500 square foot studio. We've got the space and resources to have a fairly quick turn around time on your refinishing project. We do what we do because we truly enjoy it and it shows in the quality of our work. Lastly, our prices are great! We aren't the cheapest ones out there and don't want to be. We can't afford to be the cheapest and still put out the quality of work we do.
MOST COMMON QUESTIONS WE ARE ASKED: Will we refinish furniture that you already own? YES! A fair amount of the work we do is pieces people bring to us to have refinished. Do we use paint of any kind, including chalk paint? NO, as that's not the look we are going for. Do we offer finishes such as shabby chic, distressing, glazed, etc? YES, we do quite a bit of that. Do you redo KITCHENS? YES YES YES!! We do lots of them!
STOCK COLORS VS CUSTOM COLORS The prices listed for each item is to have that piece done in one of the colors we can pull off our shelves. You can see all of them by clicking on color portfolio. Want a color you're not seeing? Ask! We do our best to stay totally updated on the stock colors but sometimes we're having too much fun refinishing and end up behind. You can also see all the color samples in person if you come by the studio. The majority of them are on cardboard so we can cut off a piece of the sample and send it home with you if you want to see how it looks in your home. If we just simply don't have the color you want we can get it! As long as we can get a color card to our guy we can do it! It's a $45 charge and well worth every dollar : )
PICK UP AND DELIVERY SERVICE We understand that not everyone has the ability to transport larger pieces of furniture which is why we offer a pick up and/or delivery service. It is $20 for either pick up or delivery (or $40 for both ways) if you are in the Jenison/Hudsonville area and it's only for item/ items that will fit in my trailblazer. When dealing with more than one large item like a bedroom set or dining room set where we will need to use my trailer the cost will be a minimum of $50 within the Jenison, Hudsonville Grand Rapids and Holland area. Cost will be determined by the size/weight of the piece/s we are delivering and by how many pieces. We can give you an exact cost beforehand so you can determine if this is the right option for you.
PAYMENT POLICIES &DEPOSITS: Once you've decided on what piece you want we'll require a $100 deposit. This deposit is non-refundable and non transferable. When you make a commitment to a particular piece we're removing it from all the sources where it was listed for sale and setting that time aside on our calender to redo YOUR new piece. Fairly often we will continue to get inquiries on it and will of course tell people it's sold. Item's aren't considered sold until we have the deposit. If you're mailing a check we're happy to give you a few days for the check to reach us but we simply can't hold items for too long without the deposit.
