WHAT I OFFER: remember in bygone days when things were made to last? Solid wood pieces, dovetailed drawers, dust guards between the drawers. Chances are you may have some of them in your home but more often than not they are dated and, well, ugly! Those are the pieces that I look for to refurbish and turn them into something you actually want people to see when they enter your home. Alot of these pieces are unique styles you don't even see today. And if you purchased anything new made to the same quality standards as the old pieces you'd pay a small fortune. I'm telling you, you can have it all! A custom furniture piece refinished to your specifications.
WHAT I DO: well, I won't tell you all my secrets but how about just enough so you know your project will be done right. I can tell you I have 22 years painting experience! I start with a specially formulated bonding primer (if it's not primed correctly the rest of the job won't even matter!). Sand, coat of lacquer (I'll get more into that in a second), sand and final coat of lacquer. New hardware or reuse the old as it is or refinish the old......you decide!
WHY LACQUER? Why not paint? Lacquer dries/cures much quicker than paint so you can take your new piece home with you and be able to use it sooner. Paint takes up to 28 days to cure.....lacquer doesn't. A lacquer finish is also much more durable than a paint finish. I've tried the chalk paints and they need a protective coat over the top......lacquer doesn't. Lacquer allows the wood grain to show thru.......paint doesn't.
WHY SPRAY? Why not brush or roll? Lacquer can only be sprayed. Spraying gives it more of a "factory finish". When you've got a piece with lots of details spraying offers a much more professional look rather than the runs that happen so easily when brushing. I use a top of the line HVLP sprayer with a gun that has the ability to spray an extremely fine finish.
YES, I WILL REFINISH YOUR FURNITURE FOR YOU! A picture will help to give you the most accurate estimate possible. FYI: I will not finish anything with paint! I take pride in the quality of my work. I've had way too many customers bring pieces to me that were painted and after a short time they look horrible. I want to provide a quality job for you so you can have a piece you are proud of for years to come!
